Fletcher Brockman's Missionary Life in Asia

In 2010-2011 the Divinity Library mounted an exhibit on Fletcher Brockman's missionary life in Asia.

Fletcher Brockman was a Vanderbilt University alum who went on to do missionary work in China. He and his wife, Mary Clark Brockman, donated relics and works of art that they had gathered during their years of working in the Far East. The Divinity Library exhibit (which includes only a portion of the collection) includes several precious artifacts, such as ancient Chinese coins, a bronze mirror, Japanese woodblock prints, and a Korean hand-woven horsehair handbag.

Charlotte Lew, one of the Divinity Library's staff members, enlisted her considerable artistic skills to create a memorable exhibit. This online version would not have been possible without the photographs of the exhibit taken by Henry Shipman, one of the staff members at Special Collections and University Archives. We thank both for their work.

And now we bring the exhibit to you. We hope that you enjoy it.
