Biographical Resources
Much biographical information can be found online. To access library biographical resources, browse to the Research Databases in Biographical Information page.
Some biographical information is only available in print. Instead of providing an (ever-changing) list of biographical resources, this page will suggest some strategies for finding such resources in Acorn, the library's catalog.
Strategies for Finding Biographical Resources in Acorn
One way to find biographical resources in Acorn is to do a subject heading search that includes the word "biography." For example, if you were interested in biographies of African American religious leaders, a SUBJECT keyword search for african american religious leaders biography will lead you to relevant biographical materials:

Which search terms should you use? For subject searches, not any will do: if you had done the above search with the terms african american church leaders biography, you would have not gotten any results.
To assist you with searches, the following table suggests search terminology for various categories of biography.
Note that you may need to look under various categories to find relevant subject terms (e.g., if you're interested in biographies of women clergy in North America, possible categories would include North American Religious Biography, African American Biography, and Women).
