The Divinity Library acquired the Judaica Collection
and archives of Professor Nahum N. Glatzer in 1991. Glatzer's German Judaica
collection includes works by many of the prominent 19th and 20th century
German Jewish thinkers such as Leopold
Zunz, Herman Cohen, Franz
Rosenzweig,
Martin Buber and Gershom Scholem. The addition of Professor Glatzer's
collection has significantly enhanced the Judaica Collection which already
was in place in the Divinity Library. Glatzer's archives contain unique
materials focusing on Franz Rosenzweig, Martin Buber and correspondence
between the Zunz and Ehrenberg families. The registers found here, are
for the Rosenzwieg, Buber and Zunz materials from Glatzer's archive. The
Rosenzweig papers include manuscripts, correspondence and ephemera. The
focal point of the Rosenzweig papers are the manuscripts of his masterwork,
Der Stern der Erloesung. Also in the Rosenzweig papers are correspondence
between Rosenzweig and Buber regarding their collaborative work on Die
Schrift, their translation of the Hebrew Bible into German, which Buber
completed after Rosenzweig's death.
